We love our Mazda models here at Mazda of Lake Charles and pride ourselves in making sure you and your friends and family are behind one of the safest vehicles available when you purchase one of our fine Mazda cars. But, despite how perfect we think our cars are, there are some times when we need to make modifications or replace parts in order to make sure we keep our high standard of safety for all of our drivers and passengers in the form of company recalls. This particular recall Involves airbag inflators supplied by the Takata production company and includes several models and years.
Mazda has issued the recall for roughly 34,600 vehicles to cover both the driver and passenger side inflators. These models include 2003-2007 Mazda6, 2006-2007 Mazdaspeed6, 2004 MPV, and 2004-2008 RX-8. These models include vehicles originally sold in or currently registered in Florida, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii. Be sure to check Mazda’s OEM website for exact details on the recall or feel free to contact our service center for more information. If you’re car is part of the company’s recall we’d be more than happy to replace the parts in question to make sure you and your family are safe on the road.
All car OEMs know that small cars make big business as smaller more compact vehicles have overcome the high popularity of bigger gas guzzling trucks…which were all the rage in the 90s and early 00’s. With this swing in consumer popularity, vehicles like the Mazda MX-5 Miata and Mazda2 which are sportier while still offering a wide range of fuel economy without sacrificing drivability are becoming big sellers and major players in their respective markets and segments. In hopes of capitalizing on this, Mazda has revealed the successor to the already popular Mazda2 model which will take form in the 2016 model year!
Originally scheduled to be unveiled during the Paris Motor Show in October, was finally unveiled in late July to anxiously waiting Mazda fans worldwide. With new sleek exterior and interior features while still showing its relation to its OEM brethren (like the Mazda3, Mazda6, and CX-5) the newly designed 2016 Mazda2 model is sure to turn heads ones these bad boys hit the dealership lots across the country.
Carbon Dioxide emissions have been a hot button topic over the past few years, and continues to be a big push for new technology here at Mazda. With Mazda, other auto makers, auto manufacturers, and tech companies across the globe working to reduce the impact our vehicles have on our environment and ozone, we’ve been helping to create a greener and brighter tomorrow for our future generations. In fact, NASA has launched an orbiting carbon observatory in space which will track carbon dioxide levels inside Earth’s atmosphere in order to help us determine the impact our continued efforts are having on our environment.
How is Mazda doing its part? Mazda will most likely be releasing a plug in version of the Mazda2 hatchback. Australia’s “Motoring” website has been hinting at this model which will be the future of Mazda’s EV and hybrid line of vehicles. Unfortunately, if this model comes to life it will hit European and Australian markets first but a plug in Mazda2 in any market is better for the environment! Now this is all speculation and rumors down the grapevine but even rumbles of a more environmental friendly Mazda model is enough to get us excited for the future here at Mazda of Lake Charles!
Not too long ago we celebrated the Mazda MX-5 Miata’s 25th birthday, which although we don’t know what that translates to in car years but generally speaking most models receive some form of a “mid-life makeover” several year before that mark. Well aside from some slight changes in the late 2000’s, the Mazda MX-5 Miata has gone relatively untouched despite an outcry from devoted roadster and Mazda fans alike. Well the roadster gods have answered our prayers and Mazda has announced that a new and improved…sorry “Not an evolved, but revolutionized”…2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata will be revealed in Monterey, CA on September 3 just before the big “Miatas at Mazda Raceway” event.
Mazda will also be showcasing “an array of heritage, concept and motorsports MX-5s” during the event. Mazda has also stated that they will have similar revealing in Spain and Japan as well to make sure their European and Asian markets are not left out of the historical event. Sadly, until the 3rd the only thing we’ll have of the new model is the teaser clip below, which is still pretty cool! But if you need something to hold you over until the official unveiling, you can feel free to stop in and see us at Mazda of Lake Charles and take one of the current models we have in stock on a test drive!
Since as long as anyone can remember, men (and some women) have being thinking of the most unique and interesting ways to pop the question when they meet the love of their lives. Some people choose the Jumbo-Tron during a big Football game or at a home game of their local baseball club. Others involve simple surprises that include family and friends in a private and romantic location. Some even go as far as organizing flash mobs to dance and sing before they drop to one knee or even record a movie trailer! (See Below). But for one Mazda Miata lover and his bride to be, he wanted to do something different.
A member of Miata.net decided to enlist the help of 44 Mazda Miatas and have them spell out two simple words “MARRY ME?” He hit the forums and asked for only 4 drivers to help by bringing their Miatas (he already had 31 along with his own) but an outstanding turnout of over 40 Miatas and their drivers showed up to make the day even bigger than expected! After using a drone to fly over the High school parking lot and snap the photo, the bride to be (also a Miata lover) had only one word to say through her joy filled teary eyes…”YES!”
Mazda has been working to expand its global market just like the rest of the bigger auto makers but has met with some hostility when it comes to their offshore neighbor. With China being a prime market for Mazda’s Japanese models, Mazda has been working hard to break into their auto market but haven’t had the best of luck so far. This doesn’t come as much of a surprise with industry experts however who stated that 51% of Chinese consumers would not even consider a Japanese Car. Again, this doesn’t surprise many due to unresolved issues many Chinese consumers have with Japan based on daily issues and historical problems between the two nations.
However, in a study conducted by The Wall Street Journal stated that Chinese consumers think Japanese cars are better than Korean cars, and are even more comfortable than German or American cars. The main task Japan faces now may be one that will only change in time.
Analyst Max Warburton stated during the study…“ Nationalistic feelings are an impediment. [Japanese] premium brands will struggle”. With nothing Japan can do directly, it will be interesting to see just how Mazda will (or if they can) breach into the Chinese market and just how long it will take for China to warm up to the idea.
Hitting the road this summer with family or friends in your favorite Mazda? Many people take a few weeks during the summer to vacation with the loved ones, and some of those vacationing people enjoy long road trips instead of flying. Whether it be the wind in your hair, the sites you see on the open highway, or being able to enjoy amazing music and great conversation with the people close in your life for hours on end; tons of people hit the open road during the summer months. So let’s say you’ve decided on a road trip and you’re packing up the car. You’ve got snacks, drinks, pillows, good books, the car’s tank is on full, but there is one thing missing; a great playlist for the road! Here are some classic songs you must have during your road trip this summer! And if you need a new car to get you through the trip, Mazda of Lake Charles as plent of vehicles (and convertibles!) available!
(Don’t worry, we’ll add some variety in the list!)
As you and your family hit the road this summer, make sure you understand when your tires may be at the end of their rope. When it comes to car safety, your tires come in near the top of the list of things you need to pay close attention to. Regular checks are fast and easy, and are well worth your while when it comes to the safety of your passengers.
Warning signs to check for on a regular basis:
Cracking or cuts in sidewalls.
Uneven tread wear. This may be caused by uneven inflation, misaligned wheels, damaged tires, or suspension problems.
Excessive tread wear. Modern tires have a tread-wear indicator which signal the minimum allowable tread-depth of 1/16 of an inch. Use a Lincoln-head penny if your tires don’t have an indicator. Hold the penny in the tread of your tire, with Lincoln’s head facing toward the tire. If you can see Abe’s head, your tread is too low.
Bulges and blisters. These are bad news, and signal a weak spot in the tire. If you don’t have the tire replaced right away, the tire may blow out while you’re on the road.
Excessive tire vibration. If your tires vibrate, it may be a sign of internal damage, or your tire may be bent, misaligned, or unbalanced.
Low pressure. Sometimes your tires might need to be topped off with air, but if you notice the same tire has low pressure often, there may be a leak.
All of these warning signs should be addressed right away. Take them to your dealership or body shop for professional evaluation, and avoid the hassle, damage, and injuries that could result from running your tires into the ground, literally.
