Planning to purchase the limited 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata Launch Edition? Great news – the special edition model is now available for pre-order online, but there are only 1,000 units available.
Due to the incredibly limited number of these in-demand vehicles, anyone who wants to get behind the wheel of a Launch Edition variant needs to get their order in as soon as possible.
To do so, head to www.longlivetheroadster.com, and click on “reserve now.” Details about the pre-order and a FAQ are included on this Mazda website. Keep in mind, that when Mazda released a recent anniversary edition of the Miata MX-5, they sold out entirely in about ten minutes.
Each of the 1,000 units comes in Soul Red with a perfectly accenting tan leather interior, and will cost potential buyers a hefty – but worth it – $30,495 (for a stick-shift model) or $31,570 (for an automatic transmission).
Would you pursue the MX-5 Miata Launch Edition pre-order? Let us know what you think in the comments. Personally, here at Mazda of Lake Charles, we are excited to see what they look like in person!
How do Mazda designers keep themselves fresh? When they are not designing vehicles, they try their hand at designing things other than cars, like couches and bicycles.
When you think about it, it makes perfect sense that Mazda might play their hand at furniture-making. After all, a huge part of motor vehicle design involves creating a comfortable and welcoming interior.
Mazda enlisted the help of Italian furniture-makers to craft the “Sofa by KODO Concept.” The black leather couch “evokes the strong stance common to all Mazda’s new-generation vehicles,” according to a press release from the automaker. Who would’ve thought a couch could be so much like a vehicle?
The “Bike by Kodo Concept”, on the other hand, is a bicycle built for the track. Mazda chose a minimalist design, with as few parts as possible. The entire frame is bent from a single sheet of steel. The simplicity of the design is beautiful and striking. This we might be able to see a bit more of a comparison to a vehicle.
Both the bike and the sofa were designed according to Mazda’s distinct design philosophy, called KODO or “Soul of Motion.” What do you think of the Mazda Company attempting to build something other than vehicles? Be sure to tell us at Mazda of Lake Charles your opinion!
For the past 10 years, Mazda Motorsports has worked to provide young racers with programs like the Mazda Road to Indy and Mazda SportsCar Racing Academy. Recently, the organization has become more involved in not only training young racers, but also teaching young drivers about the dangers of distracted driving. This is Mazda’s fourth year sponsoring the Project Yellow Light scholarship competition.
The competition asks students to create a film encouraging their friends to stop allowing distractions to impede their driving.
“With so many teenage race drivers competing with Mazda, we saw that we had both a responsibility and an opportunity to highlight the dangers of distracted driving,” said John Doonan, Mazda North American Operations director of motorsports. He goes on to say, “while young drivers may not always listen to their parents’ advice or direction, we have professional racers in our programs who, being the same age, can explain the difference between right and wrong with the credibility of a friend. This is a great way for our racers to become local heroes in their communities.”
The scholarship challenge gives high school and college students a platform to reach out to their peers and encourage them to practice safe driving habits. Mazda will be announcing the award-winning videos during race weekend at Mazda Raceway May 1 – 3.
We at Mazda of Lake Charles are proud that Mazda, Project Yellow Light, and today’s young drivers have chosen to take a stand and promote safe driving.
It was a great weekend full of Mazda racing at NOLA Motorsports Park as part of the Indy Grand Prix of Louisiana. The races marked the third stop of the 2015 MX-5 Cup race season. The Saturday race was 45 minutes on the 13-turn 2.67-mile course and the field of Miatas dazzled the fans in spectacular fashion. In a hotly contested race, Dean Copeland of Bowie Maryland outdrove the rest by executing a pass of Patrick Gallagher’s Number 3 Miata on the final lap.
“On the last lap Gallagher had it, but caught the curb in Turn 10 and went four tires in the air. Luckily, I was able to sneak by,” said Copeland.
The 2015 MX-5 Cup race season is a part of the Sports Car Club of America Pro Racing circuit which involves drivers and teams from all over the country. The rules ensure the third-generation Mazda Miatas are competitive in capabilities by limiting similar engine performance, weight, and top-down configuration, which is part of the reason it makes the MX-5 races so entertaining.
Louisiana provided one of the most exciting races of the MX-5 Cup season so far, and Mazda of Lake Charles provides an exciting assortment of Mazda cars including the MX-5 Miata. Stop by and see us today!
The long wait is over: the new MX-5 recently made its world debut at the New York International Auto Show. The show-stopping design features the latest in performance engineering, including a Bilstein suspension and an exclusive limited-slip differential design.
The new model is designed to be lighter, smaller, and quicker than any other model to come before it. Therefore, the 2016 MX-5 design incorporates several new features, like the SKYACTIV Technology and Soul of Motion design, according to Mazda.
“MX-5 is the heart and soul of Mazda, serving as a beacon for the rest of our lineup with its fun-to-drive dynamics, design and technologies,” said Jim O’Sullivan, president and CEO of Mazda. He further explains that, “oneness between driver and machine defines the MX-5. It’s a philosophy that has led every decision we’ve made toward bringing the MX-5 back to the basics that made drivers fall in love with it 26 years ago when the first generation debuted.”
Aside from these features, the new model also has 17-inch gunmetal alloy wheels, a limited-slip differential system, new shocks and springs, a shock tower brace, a front air dam, and a rear spoiler. These are just a handful of new features that make the new MX-5 one of the most popular cars in the world. We can’t wait to see the new 2016 Mazda MX-5 here at Mazda of Lake Charles!
The event will be held from April 28 to May 10 and celebrate the legend of Pirate Jean Lafitte, who is supposed to have docked his boat on the shores of Lake Charles and buried his treasure somewhere along its banks.
On the first night of the festival, cannons will be fired and the mayor will be put on trial and forced to walk the plank! On the last day, Lake Charles will be lit up by a breathtaking fireworks display for all to see.
During the two-week period in between, pirates of all ages are encouraged to come say aarrggh! And enjoy the carnival rides, games, entertainment, and live music. There will be non-stop music events and activities for the whole family! Don’t forget to also stop by the festival to see the Parade, the fireworks show, and some friendly competition such as the speedboat and crawfish races!

The all-new updated 2016 Mazda CX-5 has arrived here at Mazda of Lake Charles and it’s just waiting for you to take it out for a drive! If you’re looking for a vehicle that provides the power and room of a full-size SUV with the fuel-efficiency and sophistication of a car, then the new CX-5 is exactly what you need.
The CX-5 offers two different engine options so that you can pick exactly what suits you. The 2.0-liter four cylinder produces 155 horsepower and comes with a six-speed manual and front wheel drive. If you’re looking for a little extra boost, then you should check out the 2.5-liter four cylinder that generates 184 horsepower with standard front wheel drive and automatic transmission; all-wheel drive is also optional.
Some upgrades on the new CX-5 include new tail lamps, grille, infotainment system, driver assist (auto-braking), an electric parking brake, and different interior color options. You can choose between the Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring trims.
The updated 2016 Mazda CX-5 is truly one of those vehicles that has its own personality and offers drivers something more than the traditional SUV or Car. Its combination of character, style and power certainly makes it hard to resist. Stop by Mazda of Lake Charles to test one out today!
The Mazda MX-5 made its debut in Geneva but that’s not all it did. It inspired one of Mazda’s partners to create a sports car on the same platform. Fiat is stepping in with their Mazda MX-5 variant in the form of the Fiat 124 Spider.
The current Mazda MX-5 has two engine choices, 1.5L and 2L, that are capable of either 129 hp or 155 hp. Both of these engines can be routed through a six speed automatic or manual transmission. The vehicle is taking a step back to its roots too. Weighing in at 2,200 pounds, the 2016 MX-5 is a lightweight. In fact, it is the lightest since the first generation Miata.
Oh, and that is not all. Kudo Hidetoshi has put all the cards on the table. This generation Miata is planning to be around for about a decade, and we may see a Mazdaspeed version in the future But don’t take it from us, see what they are saying!
According to Kudo Hidetoshi, “We will have this ND-series model for maybe ten years, which gives us plenty of time make many variants. And yes, a turbocharged or MPS variant is one of the options we will definitely consider.”
The Mazda lineup just expanded a bit in its home country of Japan, where a new Mazda crossover recently went on sale. The CX-3 enters the compact crossover segment with high expectations; the brand hopes to move 3,000 units of the vehicle per month. The CX-3 also expands the lineup of new models with full-range SKYACTIV technology and KODO-Soul of Motion design elements.
However, as an extra twist on technology and efficiency, the CX-3 will exclusively offer the SKYACTIV-D 1.5-liter clean diesel engine. The new engine gets you better fuel economy, burns cleaner, and improves performance and torque. In fact, you get more power from this engine than from a 2.5-liter gasoline-powered engine.
Mazda found a way to keep the diesel engine rather quiet, too, though. It comes with the Natural Sound Smoother, a device that does exactly what it sounds like—quiets the loud noises typically found with a diesel engine. The diesel engine is just the most obvious advancement on this great new model. It also features things like the Mazda Connect system and i-ACTIVSENSE safety technologies.
“Our aim for the development of the CX-3 was to create the standard for a new era,” said Michio Tomiyama, program manager for the CX-3. “I am certain that this car will exceed customers’ expectations and add stimulation to their active lifestyle for many years to come.” Come see us here at Mazda of Lake Charles to learn more about the CX-3 today—including if and when we might see it here in the States.
