Mazda is releasing a new concept sports car at Tokyo’s Auto show later this month. With the small bit of information released about it, there is speculation that this sports car could be reminiscent of previous Mazda RX models.
The only information we have regarding this new concept car is a sleek picture of a sports car (we hope!) with a long hood and rounded fastback. This photo has led some to believe it will be based upon the famed Mazda RX-7 or RX-8 models. The RX models were popular up through the 90’s and although they are considered a great, classic sports car, they were discontinued due to some mechanical issues in the rotary that had not been resolved in the retired models. So speculation about this new model being an RX model may be put aside if the issues in the rotary (the R in RX) have not been fixed.
So the questions is, will this new concept model be an RX model with a newly revamped rotary system that eliminated the flaws of the old, or will this model be a whole new sports car drawing on design inspiration from one of Mazda favorite classic sports car? Be sure to tell us what you think here at Mazda of Lake Charles this new Mazda will be inspired by the old RX series.
Dogs get everybody smiling. They’re enthusiastic, energetic, and animated. In this regard, they’re similar to Mazda’s ever-popular Mazda3. Recently, the connection between dogs and Mazda’s signature sedan got even stronger when the Mazda3 was named the “Best Cars for Dog Lovers”. So, what makes a vehicle a good fit for a dog?
Autotrader issued the title to a select number of vehicles that possessed dog-friendly features. The Mazda3 led the pack—no pun intended. Among the features for four-legged friends are flat-folding rear seats and a cabin to roam around in. Other features include underfloor storage and a rear liftgate.
The award is Mazda3’s sixteenth award in the last eight months. All those prestigious awards make it one of the most prestigious cars on the road. In addition to having pet-friendly vehicles, Mazda Motorsports also actively supports and promotes animal adoptions from shelters.
The Mazda3 is the perfect car for you and your canine companion. It has the features they like, with the performance you’ve come to trust. When it comes to outdoing the completion, the Mazda3’s bark matches its bite! So the question is, are you going to get a vehicle that was made for you and your best friend? Tell us at Mazda of Lake Charles in the comments!

That is why it is not surprising that they are assisting a determined group with a worthy cause. Mazda will sponsor the Challenged Athletes Foundation’s “Million Dollar Challenge.”
“Support from the Mazda Foundation has helped the Million Dollar Challenge become more than a ride of a lifetime, but an event where individuals can use their passion for cycling to make a difference in the lives of others,” said Bill Geppert, interim CEO of the Challenged Athletes Foundation, in the press release. He further states that, “Our partnership with the Mazda Foundation has been mutually successful because our missions are so closely aligned around the goal of helping others – those with able bodies and those with physical challenges – realize their aspirations and dreams.”
The Million Dollar Challenge is the Challenged Athletes Foundation’s signature event. It is a seven-day bicycle race to raise money for individuals who face physical challenges. This year’s Million Dollar Challenge will be held on October 10 in the city of San Francisco. This is the second year that Mazda has helped sponsor the events, and we at Mazda of Lake Charles couldn’t be prouder to belong to the Mazda family!
As summer draws to a close, it’s time to prepare your vehicle for fall. Though the autumn season may not be the most treacherous for cars, it’s still important to address any summer wear and tear.
Here are some fall car preparation tips:
Evaluate your tires for pressure, tread, and balance. Be sure to check your owner’s manual to determine just the right amount of pressure, and you can use the penny trick to inspect the tread.
Check out your windshield wipers. You’ll want to make sure they’re working properly, before the fall leaves come pouring down. It’s a good idea to see how much windshield wiper fluid you have left as well.
Start the year out right by cleaning out the inside of your car. You’ll be glad that you did when you can use the space for heavy coats and boots.
Get your car a regular check-up from a professional, to be sure that your engine and brakes are working properly.
Keep a log of every time you get your car serviced, and be sure to set alerts for upcoming inspections.

Are you planning to bring your car to college with you? Whether you’re heading to college for your first year, or you want to bring your car for your big return, here are some helpful back to school car tips:
Determine the rules for parking at your university. Many colleges do not provide parking for undergraduates, or for students at all.
Familiarize yourself with the local parking pass system and research any necessary alternatives.
Pack up your car with a solid first-aid kit, and research the ratings of the local repair shops in town, in case they’re needed.
Make yourself a car budget, and stick to it! It will be tempting to go on extra trips to the grocery store, but remember that gas can be expensive.
Establish boundaries with your friends. If they don’t have cars of their own, they’ll likely be asking you often for help.

Mazda simply cannot stop capitalizing on the popularity of the Mazda MX-5 Miata model. Nothing shows this off more than the fact that, rather than releasing the new 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata, the Japanese carmaker is teasing us with the Mazda MX-5 Launch Edition. The Launch Edition is hitting the American market in a very limited run—only 1,000 of these cars will be made.
“The MX-5 Launch Edition will give enthusiasts the opportunity to take ownership of one of the very first, very exclusive, 2016 MX-5s to arrive in the U.S.,” said Jim O’Sullivan, president and CEO, MNAO. He goes on to say, “along with the privilege of exclusivity and being among the first 1,000 to take delivery, owners will be able to enjoy one of the purest expressions of open-top driving exhilaration available today as well as our latest entertainment, safety and luxury technologies – many of which are unique among sports cars.”

Mazda has always been good at packing tons of power and value into zippy little packages, and the new Mazda3 model is no exception. In fact, it takes Mazda’s excellence in design to the next level. Whereas most models see an increase in starting price from year to year, the new Mazda3 actually lowered its price for the 2016 model year, while also offering customers more features.
For example, the new Mazda3 comes with two different engine options, a 2.0-liter engine with 155 horsepower or a 184-horsepower 2.5-liter engine. Both engines, of course, are powered by Madza’s patented SKYACTIV technology, which gets the most in terms of both power and efficiency out of those small engines. The Mazda3 also comes with the KODO-Soul of Motion design. The new 2016 Mazda CX-5 also comes with this innovative design feature.
The 2016 Mazda3 offers standard features like a backup camera, HID headlights, and Mazda Radar Cruise Control. While these items can be hard to find and very expensive as options on other cars, the Mazda3 offers these options as standard features. That’s hard to beat! Tell us at Mazda of Lake Charles if you are excited for this new Mazda model, too!

Nobody wants to spend more than they have to filling up the gas tank in their car, which is why good fuel efficiency is definitely a top criterion when searching for a new car. The 2016 Mazda CX-3 fuel efficiency rating was just announced, coming in at an EPA-estimated 29 mpg city, 35 mpg highway, and 31 mpg combined for front-wheel drive models. For all wheel drive models it’s at an EPA-estimated 27 mpg city, 32 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined. With this type of efficiency, the likelihood of you spending a lot of time at the pump is slim.
The CX-3’s rating makes its all-wheel-drive models the most efficient all-wheel-drive vehicle in the United States. The CX-3 achieves these ratings with its efficient 2.0-liter SKYACTIC-G engine, which is rated at 146 horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque. This is paired with a SKYACTIV-DRIVE six-speed automatic transmission for optimal efficiency.
“SKYACTIV Technology means we don’t have to compromise when it comes to performance, efficiency, and fun-to-drive dynamics,” said Jim O’Sullivan, president and CEO, Mazda North American Operations, in a statement. He goes on to say that the”CX-3 will deliver all of the core values customers have come to expect with the sixth-generation lineup of Mazda vehicles, and we hope to reach new audiences with CX-3.”
