Next-Generation Mazda MX-5 Miata to Be Lighter

<a href="http://lakecharlesmazda viagra vente″ rel=”attachment wp-att-477″>Mazda MX-5 Miata

It seems like only yesterday that the newest generation of the Mazda MX-5 Miata hit public roadways. The legendary roadster is still early in the latest generation but that isn’t stopping Mazda from dropping hints about the next generation. With the latest model dropping to near-1990-level weight, it looks like that trend will continue.

The next-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata is due to hit roadways around 2021 and project leader Nobuhiro Yamamoto claims the new roadster could drop even more weight. Have no fear, though, roadster lovers—the beloved MX-5 Miata will remain roughly the same size.

Keeping with the current design, Mazda aims to cut more weight from the famous roadster. The automaker plans to do so by using more lightweight materials, like carbon fiber. Mazda isn’t stopping at materials, though.

If the Japanese automaker does use carbon fiber as a main material, the car’s weight will drop even lower. Thanks to the weight loss via carbon fiber, the MX-5 Miata would require smaller brakes, tires, and engine, all of which would further reduce the roadster’s weight.

There’s no confirmation as to what else Mazda plans to do to the Mazda MX-5 Miata but they’ll likely be game-changing adjustments.

We here at Mazda of Lake Charles are pumped for more information about the legendary roadster!

Mazda’s Diesel Sedan Delayed

Mazda’s Diesel Sedan

Here in the United States, we’ve been hearing rumors of a diesel-powered sedan since 2013. Word had it that the Mazda6 would feature the diesel engine, but with recent events, that could be off the table entirely. While Mazda hasn’t entirely pulled the idea, Mazda’s diesel sedan won’t be arriving anytime soon.

The rumored diesel engine has been pushed back thanks in part to certification delays but that isn’t the only cause. Following Volkswagen’s diesel cheating scandal, public opinion of diesel engines has faltered. With a shaky future on the horizon, it may be too much of a risk for Mazda, a smaller automaker, to release a diesel engine.

On top of that, North American CEO Masahiro Moro claimed that, to meet emissions standards, Mazda would have to dramatically reduce the engine’s power. The company as a whole wasn’t satisfied with the outcome, meaning the engine would be far too weak for their liking.

There’s still some hope though. Mazda is keeping a close eye on the United States automotive market. When the time is right, odds are we’ll see a diesel engine available to the public.

We here at Mazda of Lake Charles are hoping to see a diesel engine in the near future!  Tell us if you would be interested in seeing a Mazda diesel engine!

New Car Care Tips

Buying a new car is an event many drivers look forward to, and many only experience it a handful of times. Once off the lot, the car is all yours and it’s your job to take proper care of it. While a new car doesn’t need much in terms of maintenance, it does still need your attention. Here are a few new car care tips from us here at Mazda of Lake Charles.

New Car Care Tips

  • Driving – While it can be tempting to play with all the shiny new dials, buttons, and switches, its best to keep your eyes on the road while driving. All the new toys can be distracting, but the last thing any driver wants is an accident minutes after leaving the lot.
  • Engine – Many drivers worry about breaking in their engine, fearing they’ll ruin it for the car’s lifespan in the first few thousand miles. As a general rule, avoid putting the pedal to the metal and idling for long periods of time. Instead, drive normally along roads you drive often.
  • Read – Your owner’s manual is an inside look at your car. Learn everything you can about it, and make sure to mark the page with the service schedule to keep the most routine maintenance in mind!

Tips for Improving Fuel Economy on Road Trips

fuel economy on road trips

We’ve all noticed gas prices creeping back up in the last couple of months, and on long road trips, fuel can be one of the biggest expenses. Follow these tips for improving fuel economy on road trips and save a few bucks on your next vacation.

Before you leave on your trip, take your car to a mechanic or your dealership for an inspection. Keeping your car in great shape is the best way to lower fuel use, which means making sure your tires are properly inflated and aligned, your air filter is clean, and your engine is working properly. This also lowers your chances of breaking down!

Pack as light as you can. The heavier your load, the harder your engine has to work. On the road, keep your speed even and not too high, and avoid sudden braking. You’d be amazed how much gas you can save by coasting. This may also be a good time to engage your cruise control if it’s available in your car.  Avoid idling whenever possible as well—but that doesn’t mean turning your engine off at stoplights. Cars with stop/start technology are a great investment for this!

Follow these simple tips to help you get the most miles on your next road trip this summer.  For more tips or questions regarding your vehicles maintenance, stop by Mazda of Lake Charles today!

How to Keep Your Car Cool in Hot Weather

<img class="aligncenter wp-image-433 size-full" src="http://lakecharlesmazda.mazdaoflakecharles avis sur achat” alt=”keep your car cool” width=”640″ height=”426″ />

Hot weather can make for miserable driving conditions, whether you’re driving across the country or just to the supermarket. Follow these tips on how to keep your car cool in high temperatures to prevent your car—and yourself—from overheating.

Using the air conditioning is the obvious choice if you have it, but don’t turn it on right away, and avoid using it too often. The AC stresses out your engine, which can cause it to overheat. Keep an eye on your coolant, too. Always pull over if your temperature gauge is in the red and let your engine cool off!

As for the interior, park in the shade whenever possible, and crack your windows to keep the heat from getting trapped inside. Invest in a reflective shade for the window that blocks heat from the sun from being absorbed. You can get heat out faster by only opening the bottom vents at first so the cool air pushes the hot air upward and then switch to the upper vents after a few minutes.

Make sure you use the fresh air setting when you first get in instead of recirculation! Recirculating the air is best when it’s already cool.

Different Flavors of Lemonade

Summer Lemonade Drinks

As the season of spring progresses and the season of summer approaches, the days are growing longer and warmer. The perfect drink for these warm spring days is a nice glass of cold, refreshing lemonade! However, what many people do not realize is that there are plenty of varieties of lemonade to choose from instead of the classic flavor. In order to mix up your usual lemonade, consider making one of these different flavors of lemonade.

Strawberry Lemonade

Often referred to as “pink lemonade” thanks to its pink hue, strawberry lemonade is a nice combination of the sweet flavor of strawberries and the tart flavor of lemons.

Raspberry Lemonade

Speaking of berries that go well with lemonade, raspberry lemonade actually pairs the two tangy flavors of raspberries and lemons for a sour, yet satisfying drink.

Peach Lemonade

Peach lemonade may very well be the best version of lemonade for the summer, with hints of a sweet peach flavoring added into the drink.

Lemonade Ice Tea

Ice Tea is another classic summer drink. So why not combine it with lemonade! By doing so, you have a drink that you can always enjoy while cooling down during those summer days.

Here at Mazda of Lake Charles, we love an ice cold Lemonade on a warm summers day!  Which type of Lemonade is your favorite on a warm Louisiana day?

1990 Mazda Miata

For generations, Japanese-based automotive company Mazda has been producing some of the most advanced vehicles in the industry. While Mazda is always looking ahead to the next new technology or achievement, the brand never forgets its history. Recently, Mazda found a perfect way to celebrate that heritage by helping sponsor the Touge California road rally.

Hosted in part by the automotive magazine Japanese Nostalgic Car, Touge California is the only all-Japanese vintage car road rally in North America. Of the vehicles included in the rally, 11 of them are Mazda vehicles. With only 28 vehicles included in the car road rally, Mazda accounts for nearly 40% of the total vehicles on the list to go.

“We are proud to have Mazda, a company that understands the importance of heritage and motoring thrills, as a partner for our Touge California rally,” said Ben Hsu, editor-in-chief of Japanese Nostalgic Car. Furthermore, he states that “As 70 percent of Japan’s terrain is mountainous, our goal with Touge California is to give owners of Japanese cars the experience of driving on roads similar to those on which their cars were born.”

While planning toward its future, Mazda never forgets to honor its past!  Stop by Mazda of Lake Charles to talk to us about the history of Mazda or to see the future with the latest Mazda lineup.
