The Mazda lineup just expanded a bit in its home country of Japan, where a new Mazda crossover recently went on sale. The CX-3 enters the compact crossover segment with high expectations; the brand hopes to move 3,000 units of the vehicle per month. The CX-3 also expands the lineup of new models with full-range SKYACTIV technology and KODO-Soul of Motion design elements.
However, as an extra twist on technology and efficiency, the CX-3 will exclusively offer the SKYACTIV-D 1.5-liter clean diesel engine. The new engine gets you better fuel economy, burns cleaner, and improves performance and torque. In fact, you get more power from this engine than from a 2.5-liter gasoline-powered engine.
Mazda found a way to keep the diesel engine rather quiet, too, though. It comes with the Natural Sound Smoother, a device that does exactly what it sounds like—quiets the loud noises typically found with a diesel engine. The diesel engine is just the most obvious advancement on this great new model. It also features things like the Mazda Connect system and i-ACTIVSENSE safety technologies.
“Our aim for the development of the CX-3 was to create the standard for a new era,” said Michio Tomiyama, program manager for the CX-3. “I am certain that this car will exceed customers’ expectations and add stimulation to their active lifestyle for many years to come.” Come see us here at Mazda of Lake Charles to learn more about the CX-3 today—including if and when we might see it here in the States.
