Mazda is working on bringing more Mazdaspeeds back to roadways. The automaker is playing with the idea of making a Mazdaspeed version of the newest Mazda2, along with the new Mazdaspeed3 and Mazdaspeed6. The Mazda2 hatchback was revealed this month at the Paris Motor Show and the stylish subcompact is capable of achieving 100 horsepower with the help of a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and a lightweight body. Making the Mazda2 a Mazdaspeed model, due to its weight, would only need a little more power to produce a fine performance car.
Apart from the Mazdaspeed upgrade for the Mazda2, the Mazdaspeed3 and Mazdaspeed6 will be small cars; the former will be operated with a Skyactiv turbo engine that can reach over 300 horsepower. These models are also anticipated to be extremely light weight and have an equally lightweight four-wheel drive system. Digital Trends says, “Little is known about the new Mazdaspeed6 at this time, but the previous iteration from 2005-2007 featured a 2.3-liter turbo with 268 hp. The current Mazda6 uses a 184-hp, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine.”
We are looking forward to seeing these new fast Mazdaspeeds make their way to dealerships! Test drive our new models at Mazda of Lake Charles!
