Mazda is set to unveil their all-new 2016 Mazda CX-3 this month at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. The compact crossover will compete with the likes of the Nissan Juke, Kia Soul, and Chevrolet Trax.
Mazda is keeping its lips sealed about the CX-3, only releasing a single sketch that reveals a “sleek vehicle with a long hood, prominent grille, and raked windshield”. They haven’t released any information regarding the timing of the CX-3’s launch, pricing, technical specifications, or features. We’re pretty much in the dark on this one.
Since we don’t have many details, we’ll go ahead and join in on all the speculation. For starters, Green Car Reports notes that the CX-3 will likely share a platform with the new 2016 Mazda 2 subcompact, which in turn shares the same underpinnings as the next Toyota Yaris.
We also expect that the engines on the Mazda 2 will be shared with the CX-3, meaning that it will have a choice of fuel-efficient SKYACTIV, four-cylinder gasoline units.
Besides the much-anticipated CX-3, Mazda will also unveil the new 2016 Mazda 6 sedan and a refreshed Mazda CX-5.
After the 2016 Mazda CX-3 debut in California, it’s expected to make its way to Mazda of Lake Charles and other dealerships nation-wide next year.
